SRD 700,000 Toward Building Successful Societies

We began charitable activities almost immediately after entering Suriname with the beautification of the garden of the Fatima Oord Elderly Home in January 2016, followed by an investment of a little more than SRD 60,000 to upgrade the quarantine area of the Diakonessenhuis Hospital children’s section.

Now in 2017, we launched our flagship Power to Make a Difference programme in Suriname with an investment of more than SRD 700,000. Four new worthy causes have joined our Power to Make a Difference family:

  • National Foundation for Blinds and Visually impaired Persons in Suriname (NSBS): to facilitate ICT and Braille courses for blind or visually-impaired persons in Paramaribo and Nickerie.
  • Foundation for Postacademic Education for Medicine in Suriname (SPAOGS): to promote healthy lifestyles amongst about 6,000 children from 6 to 12 years.
  • Foundation Bibilionef Suriname: for the purchase of about 7,500 new books for children in need.
  • Swimming Association Neptunes: to teach children from the coastal area of Suriname to swim.

“Everywhere we operate, Republic Bank is committed to strengthening and building sustainable communities,” says Managing Director, Mrs. Gloria Anthony, “We are proud to call Suriname our home and it is a great privilege to work with the Surinamese people to build a stronger, more caring, more inclusive nation. This is the hope embodied in the Power to Make A Difference.”
