The Power to Make a Difference Through Workplace Parenting

On May 13th, 2026, Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V. and UNICEF launched the next phase of their Early Childhood Development Programme partnership, the Workplace Parenting Programme, a new initiative aimed at strengthening early childhood development in Suriname by supporting working parents.

This initiative focuses on children between the ages of two and four, recognizing that the early years of life are critical for learning, emotional growth, and overall development. Through this initiative, parents are equipped with practical knowledge and tools to actively support their children’s early stimulation and learning at home.

As part of the programme, employees from participating organizations, including Fernandes Group, Assuria, Rudisa Group, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing of Suriname, and the Academic Hospital Paramaribo, will participate in an eight-week workplace training programme delivered directly within their organizations. In addition to the in-person sessions, parents will receive access to a 15-part instructional video series to reinforce learning beyond the workplace.

Participating partners emphasized that supporting employees in their role as parents contributes not only to stronger families, but also to healthier and more productive workplaces. The initiative aligns with broader corporate social responsibility goals aimed at promoting child-friendly work environments and strengthening family support systems across Suriname.

This programme forms part of the ongoing partnership between Republic Bank and UNICEF under the Power to Make a Difference programme, which focuses on creating sustainable impact for children and families nationwide.

Republic Bank and UNICEF reaffirm their shared commitment to investing in early childhood development and ensuring that every child in Suriname receives the best possible start in life, one that nurtures learning, care, and opportunity from the very beginning.
