Paramaribo, Suriname, May 29, 2024: “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” - Benjamin Franklin, said Margerie Telgt, acting director of PTC Suriname even before signing the contract of a four (4) year agreement with the Bank.
The Bank and the Education institute officially signed, as part of Republic Bank Suriname's Corporate Social Responsibility Program, adopted from its parent company Republic Financial Holdings Limited, called: the Power to Make a Difference.
One of the focus areas of the program, the Power to learn, for youth development through education, culture and arts seamlessly connects to the intended purpose of both Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V. and the Polytechnic College Suriname. This collaboration allows four (4) students to be considered for the following Bachelor programs, beginning in the 2024 - 2025 academic year:
• Information & Communication Technology;
• Electrical Engineering.
The sponsorship with a total value of USD 24,000.00 over a period of four (4) years is also in line with our supported Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #1 No Poverty. “Through education, young people are empowered to work their way out of poverty, for themselves and their families” said Brian Alleyne the Managing Director of Republic Bank Suriname proudly, following the signing of the agreement.
Potential Polytechnic College Suriname students may look forward to the call, to apply for one of the scholarships that the institute will place. Republic Bank's Power to Make a Difference program is an annual program and is implemented not only in Suriname but also in the other countries where the Bank operates including Anguilla, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St.
Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines & Trinidad & Tobago.
