Stichting ReGT-STREVEN, in collaboration with Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V., officially launched the Stay in School Project 2025–2026 on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The opening ceremony took place at the Mgr. Aloysius Zichem Sports Center on Prins Hendrikstraat #1, formerly the NGVB Stadium.
The Stay in School Project is an initiative aimed at promoting sports participation among young people, fostering collaboration between schools, and strengthening discipline, respect, and sportsmanship within society. Through this project, students are given the opportunity to further develop their talents in a positive and educational environment. The project commenced on May 23 and will conclude with its final match day and finals on August 2.
During the opening, Republic Bank emphasized the importance of initiatives that encourage young people to combine education and personal development with sports and positive social activities. According to the bank, the project not only contributes to talent development but also helps strengthen discipline, self-confidence, and social engagement among youth.
Following the official proceedings, Mgr. Wulfingh School faced the Sanatan Dharm School Group in the first round of rounders. After a close halftime score, the match was won by the Sanatan Dharm School Group. The afternoon concluded with a football match between Kwatta School Group and the Secondary Education Schakel Institute, with a victory for the Schakel Institute. The matches created a sporting atmosphere in which cooperation, team spirit, and healthy competition were central.
With its support for the Stay in School Project 2025–2026, Republic Bank once again underscores its commitment to youth development, education, and community building in Suriname through its Corporate Social Responsibility program, “The Power to Make a Difference.”
